October Recap

What's Up Bombshells?
So it has been a while since our last post and it is due time for a new one. So much has occurred since the last blog! where to start? First we did makeup for a Tiny & Toya spoof (BET). We worked with actress Johari Johnson who is amazing! Love her to death. The makeup and acting are hilarious! Bombshell had our first Fashion Show as the Key artists! We did a shoot last month for Beauty Come Forth (BCF) Magazine and they like our work so much that we were asked to Key their Fashion Show launch for the mag and for new fashion line Myla. It was amazing and we got so many compliments! Haven't yet received all of the photos but will post asap! I'll put up what we have. I was so happy my mom came and was excited to be at her first red carpet event lol! She is so cute! We've worked on several photo shoots including the Jeremy's Image calendar shoot (www.jeremysimage.com). This shoot was down in Laguna Beach, yes, the Laguna. I had to be up at the crack of dawn because Jeremy and the photographer Darius wanted sunrise shots and Laguna is about 45 minutes away so can you imagine what time I had to be up? I know, it's excrutiating every time! But they were great to work with and soooo funny. I'll be sure to post some of the photos from the shoot and let you know when the behind the scenes dvd and calendar are available.

We uploaded three new tutorials to our website - I did a Halloween version of Beyonce's Kitty Kat Video with leopard/cheetah print and Star posted a Fall Trend vid for 2009. Check them out at youtube.com/bombshellbeauties or at http://www.thebombshellbeauty.com/Tutorials.html
Starlynn is currently working on a video/dvd for Soulja boy featuring Snoop Dogg. How exciting right? I just finished a pilot this past tuesday for a new show on the Food Network called Bar Element produced by the MadLab Consortium. Love them and will always work with them 'til I die! These are all very general detail I know but I would be writing forever if I sat and went into every single job. We'll try to keep up on all each time we work and take more flics for you all to see! Til then, as always stay true, live life, experience it, take the time to enjoy it and Step Your Game Up!

Slou Foot and Douche Weekend 2

Hi Bombshells,
Last weekend we wrapped up the filming of the hilarious pilot Slou Foot and Douche! The weekend started off with an early call time of 7:30 am and producer Barry Floyd's apt. This weekend Colijia and I both did makeup. They decorated the walls of the apt with sexy pictures from Men's magazines which all they guys were excited about! The cast also had scenes in which they had to partake in "herbal refreshment" of course they couldn't use the real stuff so they used a substitute that smelled horrible! We had three locations in all for the weekend. There was a scene with actress Carla Betz getting yogurt dumped on her face so we had to keep redoing her face after each take. Poor Carmen had to keep trying to re curl her hair that was wet from the yogurt. This time around I was able to meet more of the cast and joke around with Kareem and Barry who we work with on an online comedy sketch show Purple Stuff TV. The days were extremely long but we were kept laughing and having fun by the funny cast members and staff. This was a great experience for Bombshell Beauty and we hope to work with them all again in the future! Until next time, Step your game up!

Nica Martinez Shoot

Hey Bombshells!
So this is just a quick post before I lay it down to make love to my pillows! Two days ago on the 1st of Oct., my cousin Nica calls me to ask if I am available to do her makeup for a shoot on Friday which was the next day! Luckily I wasn't booked for anything else so I agreed. Of course it's a Friday and she doesn't get off til 5pm and did I mention she lives over an hour away? But the photo shoot was in my neck of the woods, not too far in Long Beach. So since she got off at 5, the shoot couldn't start until at least 7 because she was stuck in traffic until a little after. I was fine with it at first then I realized I had to go back to shoot Sat & Sun the 3rd and 4th for the Slou, Foot and Doucha pilot (See the SFD pilot blog #2) so you know I wanted to just kick myself! Long story short, we show up at the photographer Raul's house and throws me a curve ball. Now Nica told me the theme of the shoot was going to be 1950s/Lingerie, when I arrive, the photographer tells me he wants crazy makeup. No beauty or anything you would go to a wedding or out wearing. This gave me all of 10 minutes to come up with something good and fresh to do on her. She has a beautiful caramel complexion so I knew yellows would look great on her. I just bought a black lipstick from MAC called Midnight Media and had been dying to use it, so I figured this was the perfect opportunity to do so. Long story short, it started off kind of slow bt picked up as we went and finally at the end when I added the black lipstick. I think the loooong night became all worth it when we got the golden shot. We didn't finish until a little after 12am and I had to be up at 5am for the 7am call time on SFD Pilot. Wack! So tired and sleepy bt that's the life of a Bombshell! I used MAC Pro color Bright Sunshine and Pigment in Golden Lemon, Carbon eyeshadow, Emerald Green Pigment with a little Gorgeous Gold eyeshadow. Until next time...Step Your Game Up!

SFD Pilot

Hey Bombshells!
So I am a little late with this post but better late than never right? So Bombshell was asked to do makeup for a pilot that is to be shopped around to networks (and hopefully get picked up - fingers crossed). We were asked by some of the writers and actors from the show 'The Game' on the CW with Wendy Raquel Robinson, Tia Mowry, Pooch Hall, etc, of course you know we were happy to do it. I mean these people have already had success on 'The Game' so why not? This could be our foot into television and into the makeup artists union local 706! Unfortunately the (well a-meaning one) producer told us that they only wanted one of us each weekend because of budgeting they could not afford to feed us both! Riiiiiight, that's exactly what we thought! So I, Bombshell Colijia worked this past weekend, Sept 26th & 27th and Starlynn is to work on Oct. 3rd & 4th. In any case it turned out to be a really great start to the pilot, I worked with some amazing actors and crew, the producers and hair - everyone were great. They were all so thankful and kept telling me I was doing too good of a job! Which is so comforting to hear, but they instructed me to do tacky makeup since the main characters Slou, Foot, and Doucha (I know, crazy names right? trust me makes sense once you see it) are slackers and weed heads lol! So I did what I was asked and I am almost embarrassed to say it's my work but just remember folks it was on purpose! The only things I could complain about was the extreme heat in the room we were doing makeup in and the fact that I was under pressure and time constraints since Star wasn't there with me. It is so frustrating to be rushed and not given enough time to do your job, but such is the life of the industry right? So because shooting ran behind as always, now they want us both to work this weekend...raised brow we know lol! But the actors were hilarious, kept me laughing the whole time and so great to work with. Above is a pic of the hairstylist on the left, Carmen Johnson, the lead actress Helenna Santos, and muah. Look out for these people and some of the other actors, Kareem Grimes, Kevin Martin and Carla Betz - amazing actors. I'll try to get more pics up of the set. Here's a video Helenna created for her youtube page... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33fwVhpgJiQ Until next time ....Step Your Game Up!

Common "Make My Day" Video

Hi Bombshells!
Bombshell Beauty had the opportunity to work with an amazing director by the name of Matthew Cherry. He called me up to work on a video by superstar hip hop artist Common for his single "Make My Day" feat. Cee Lo. Of course I was so excited to have this opportunity for Bombshell Beauty so I jumped at the chance. Bombshell Beauty has worked with Matthew Cherry before on a video called "Blame it on the Purple Stuff" a spoof of Jamie Fox's "Blame it on the Alcohol". You can view that at www.purplestufftv.com or on www.youtube.com/purplestufftv. The day started off at a beach in Malibu called El Matador, which took me almost two hours to get there. I arrived and met the crew. A handsome crew member by the name of Charley by way of New Orleans helped me carry my kit. Follow him www.twitter.com/CharleyMacFilms. Oh how I love southern gentleman :-)! After setting up my kit the beach patrol, rangers, or whoever told us we couldn't film on Saturdays! What!!! Thankfully, Matt secured another location and the theme of the video became two people meeting and spending the day together at a pool party rather than the beach. Sometimes when setbacks happen something better comes out of it. I did a very bronze beach look on the model Celestina which looked beautiful against her chocolate complexion. I added lashes and face and body foundation for an all over beach glamorous look. Here it is! Leave a comment! Have a great day and remember "Step your Game Up!"
